The Beauty and Practicality of Artificial Trees

Adding a tree to an interior or exterior setting can completely change the feel of a space. It creates a natural focal point, draws the eye, and brings a calm, grounded atmosphere. But growing real trees indoors, or in busy commercial environments, rarely works out. They need light, care, and the right conditions, which aren’t always possible.

Artificial trees solve this problem. They offer the visual impact of a real tree without the upkeep. They’re long lasting, realistic, and suited to spaces where live plants would struggle. In this post, we’ll cover why they’re such a good option, where they work best, and show an example of a recent install we supplied to a restaurant in Telford.

Why Choose Artificial Trees?

Artificial trees make sense in settings where real trees would fail. Whether it’s because of low light, extreme temperatures, or lack of time to maintain them, this is a practical way to bring nature in.

Here are some reasons our clients choose them:

Artificial Trees - Bucida

1. No Maintenance

Forget watering, pruning, or pest control—artificial trees require none of the time or effort real trees demand. This makes them perfect for busy environments like restaurants, offices, and shopping centres, where ongoing care simply isn’t feasible.

2. Long Lifespan

Modern artificial trees are made with high-quality, durable materials that resist fading and damage over time. Many are even treated with fire-retardant coatings, making them a safe option for public and commercial spaces.

3. Fully Adaptable

Whether you need a towering large artificial tree to fill an atrium or a smaller piece to add a touch of greenery to a corner, artificial trees can be tailored to suit any space or design scheme.

4. Sustainable Approach

Some versions use real tree trunks taken from trees that have naturally perished. These trunks are cleaned, treated and reused to form the core of the new tree. With the right build quality, these trees can last for decades and are often made using recyclable materials.

Project Feature: A Faux Olive Tree at Willow Restaurant, Telford

We recently supplied a large artificial olive tree to Willow, a restaurant in Telford. The interior was designed by imddesign.co.uk, and the tree now acts as a focal point within the space.

Here’s what makes this large artificial tree unique:

A Real Olive Trunk: The trunk was sourced from a mature olive tree that had died naturally. After drying, treating, and lacquering, the trunk was repurposed to form the foundation of the artificial tree.

Fire-Retardant Foliage: The olive foliage, crafted from high-quality fire-retardant materials, is attached to both existing and new branches to create a realistic canopy.

Bespoke Dimensions: Standing at 3 metres tall with a canopy 2.7 metres wide, the tree was designed specifically to complement the restaurant’s layout and ambiance.

This project demonstrates how artificial trees can combine craftsmanship and practicality to create a beautiful and functional centrepiece.

Where Can Artificial Trees Be Used?

The versatility of artificial trees makes them an excellent choice for a wide range of settings:

Commercial Spaces

Restaurants and Cafés: Create a serene, natural-inspired atmosphere that encourages relaxation and enhances the dining experience.

Offices: Bring greenery into workspaces, improving aesthetics and employee wellbeing, even in areas with no natural light.

Retail Centres and Hotels: Use artificial trees as striking centrepieces or decorative features in high-ceilinged spaces like atriums and lobbies.

Homes and Gardens

Living Spaces: Add a touch of elegance to your home with a faux olive tree or other artificial greenery.

Gardens and Patios: Use artificial trees in shaded or weather-exposed areas where real plants would struggle to thrive. Make sure these are UV stable, Meaning they won't fade over time.

Seasonal and Year-Round Décor: Artificial trees look flawless no matter the season, giving you consistent beauty all year round.

Plant Around the Tree

Pair your artificial tree with smaller pieces like artificial plants and artificial flowers to create a cohesive, inviting design. From decorative table-top arrangements to larger installations, these additions can add depth and texture to your space.

Whether you’re looking for a large artificial tree to act as a centrepiece or a mix of artificial greenery to brighten up an area, the possibilities are endless.
